Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a (trans. Esipoff)

8.95

•  The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, by Peter Tchaikovsky (trans. Esipoff), for solo piano
•  Facsimile of G. Schirmer's edition from 1922
•  Contents: Title page, 42 pages of music
•  Printable e-reader edition, high-quality PDF good for a lifetime

Presented here is Schirmer's excellent 1922 edition of Stepán Esipoff's piano transcription of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, which was first published by Augener in 1892. Esipoff treats Tchaikovsky's score with respect and care and Schirmer's edition is easy to read, making it an ideal performance edition for pianists from the intermediate through concert levels. Apparently, "Stepan Esipoff" as well as "Anton Strelezki" were pseudonyms for Arthur Bransby Burnand (1858-1907) who was thought to have been a piano student of Franz Liszt. Contents include:

1. Overture
2. March
3. Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy
4. Russian Dance (Trepak)
5. Arabian Dance
6. Chinese Dance
7. Dance of the Flutes
8. Waltz of the Flowers
